Pakistani Youth Capacity Building Graduates 38

In addition to contributing to the peace process in Liberia, the Pakistani peacekeepers with the UN mission in the country are also involved in building the capacity of the youth, equipping them with the necessary skills to be fit for the job market.

At the end of the fourth phase of the peacekeepers’ “Boost the Youth” capacity building programme in January, 38 youngsters graduated after completing training in computers and Grader/Fork Lifter skills.  The programme was held in Caresburg.

During the two-week training, Pakistan Construction Engineering Company-19 engaged the participants with hands-on approach to enable the students to have a working knowledge of the equipment so that they can find employment right after the completion of the training.

Computer training encompassed fundamentals of computers, window 7 overview, internet, office applications. Grader/fork lifter course covered basic definitions, fuel systems, lubrication, and hydraulic systems of machinery and handling of the machine.

Assistant Minister of Education for Vocational and Technical Education Charles Gaye graced the certification. “Pakistan has imprinted their names on our hearts with their devoted efforts,” he said. 

Contingent Commander Brig.-Gen. Tahir Mahmood said “the importance of effort done in imparting technical training to youth is cognizant with demands of private and commercial sectors.”

Representatives of students said they highly appreciated the efforts and offered gratitude to Pakistan Construction Company Engineering – 19 for reaching out to them.
