LNP Traffic Department Receive New Equipment

The Road Safety Division of the Liberia National Police (LNP) benefitted from a donation of assorted traffic equipment from UNMIL in June. Acquired through UNMIL’s Quick Impact Projects (QUIPs), some 300 Traffic cones, 300 reflective jackets, 75 rechargeable lights and 97 signal boards -- all valued at USD 19,980 – were handed over to the LNP leadership by UNMIL police commissioner Gregory Hinds.

The items are expected to boost the performance of the LNP officers while protecting them from preventable accidents while on duty.

‘It’s timely and really important to help the officers that are part of the division to more effectively perform their job and not only to effectively perform their jobs by safely perform their roles and functions,” said Hinds as he handed over the items.

“We extend heartfelt gratitude to our UN counterparts, the leadership for this gesture. We are grateful for what you have done for our country and what you continue doing for us. We are fully aware that these donations are hard earned incomes of well-meaning philanthropist countries, institutions and individuals the world over. We can assure you that these items are not only going to be used for the intended purpose but they are going to be accounted for expeditiously,” Deputy Commissioner of LNP for Public Safety, Nelson Jallah said.
