August 18, 2013 marks the 10th anniversary of the Accra Peace Accord, which, ten years ago, brought new promise and progress to the country.

In 1989, Liberia plunged into a civil war that lasted 14 years and claimed the lives of over 150,000 people. There was a complete breakdown of law and order, and hundreds of thousands were displaced both inside and out of Liberia’s borders.

Since the fighting stopped, Liberia has come a long way. August 18, 2013 marks the 10th anniversary of the Accra Peace Accord, which, ten years ago, brought new promise and progress to the country.
