UNMIL Officer-in-Charge Waldemar Vrey made the following statement today:
At about 1:30 pm yesterday [29 December] a jeep with nine Liberian passengers collided with an UNMIL pickup truck with military personnel at Wutuken, on the road between Harper and Fishtown.
The accident resulted in four fatalities among the Liberian passengers. Injured Liberians have been transferred to the Jackson F. Doe Memorial Hospital in Tappita, Nimba County and JJ Dossen Hospital in Harper, Maryland County. The injured UNMIL soldiers have been transferred to the UNMIL medical facility in Monrovia.
Our thoughts at this time are with the families of the deceased and those who sustained injuries.
