Closure of UNMIL

The United Nations Mission in Liberia was established in October 2003 to support for the implementation of a ceasefire agreement and peace process, and to assist with the maintenance and restoration of law and order throughout Liberia. The mission successfully completed its mandate on 30 March 2018.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen of the media. We are once again happy to be with you today for this important press briefing because it centers on rule of law, which is very crucial for Liberia’s peace consolidation.

 

We have as our guest today, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the Rule of Law, Ms. Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu. She will be addressing you all on the key issues of rule of law. As you may be aware, this press briefing is the launch of events leading up tothe International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers. Our DSRSG for the Rule of Law will discuss the:
