Closure of UNMIL

The United Nations Mission in Liberia was established in October 2003 to support for the implementation of a ceasefire agreement and peace process, and to assist with the maintenance and restoration of law and order throughout Liberia. The mission successfully completed its mandate on 30 March 2018.

<p style="text-align: justify;">Coffee Break on Friday, December 15 , 2017 hosted the following persons:<br><strong>Atty . Bartholomew Colley</strong> / Acting Chairperson Independent National Human Rights Commission.<br>He said the commission is stepping up efforts for the protection of civilians<br><strong>Malcolm Scott</strong> / Communications Director National Port Authority (NPA) .&nbsp; Scott disclosed that the NPA was dedicating a 2.63 kilo meter internal road project at the Free Port of Monrovia<br><strong>Michael Tipayson</strong> / a campaigner for the release of jailed former student leader Varney Jersey.&nbsp; They are calling for a speedy trial of the student leader who was indicted for statutory rape<br><strong>Cllr. John Gabriel</strong> /Head of the SGBV Crimes Unit , Ministry of Justice&nbsp; He provided updates on&nbsp; the status of the Varney Jersey’s case<br><strong>Dr. Charles Asumana</strong> / National Project Coordinator Climate Change Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) . He disclosed that the EPA has concluded training for key stakeholders on climate change<br><strong>Dorothy Tomeh</strong> /Executive Director of the Development Education Network/Liberia based in Gbarnga.<br>She the DEN-L is currently implementing an UNMIL sponsored at engaging with vulnerable youths in four rural counties.</p>
