    • President Ellen Johnson –Sirleaf has launched the high level panel on migration with a commitment for collective partnership to address the irregular trend of migration in the Africa.
    • Meanwhile, the acting executive of the UN economic commission for Africa said the panel presents an opportunity for Africa and its partners to find solutions to addressing the challenges of irregular migration.
    • President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, at the weekend led the historic ground breaking of the first cross-border energy supply between Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.
    • The General Manager of the CLSG Project said that the Cote d’ Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea interconnection power line of 1300 kilometers with 11 sub-stations is the biggest construction project in the Mano River Union.  
    • The National Legislature is holding discussions on the draft national 2017/2018 budget

    Coffee Break is UNMIL Radio’s flagship news and current affairs program that highlights issues of concerns to UNMIL, government of Liberia, Civil Society and Grassroots communities. Issues such as peace and reconciliation, elections, women’s issues, current events, governance, rule of law, electricity and road construction among others are captured in the program which is aired Mondays-Fridays.

    Coffee Break today featured live interviews with the following persons and issues:

    • Othello Tarbah - Deputy for Expenditure/ Legislative Budget Office spoke about the process of the budget hearing at the Legislature;
    • Atty. Ambrose Nmah – Director of Communication / the Judiciary spoke about report that the Circuit Court in River Gee County is operating from a makeshift structure;
    • Cllr. Tiawon Gongloe - Respected Human Rights and Constitutional Lawyer opposes calls for the relaxing of constitutional provisions to allow for participation in the elections…
    • Isaac Redd – Director of press & public Affairs / House of Representatives spoke about the ratification of a US$59.5m road pavement deal for Bomi County;
    • Varfee Holmes – Public Affairs Director / Liberia Statistics and Geo-Information Services conducted census workshop for media practitioners
