    • President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has ended her country tour with the dedication of two projects in Montserrado County.
    • Chiefs of Defense staff in the sub region are expected to convene in Monrovia for a security meeting from September 6 to the 8th.
    • The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Liberia has challenged female political candidates to compete with their male counterparts in the political process.
    • Authorities at the National Elections Commission (NEC) last week (Wednesday) set straight Dr. Togba Nah-Tipoteh’s claims that the figure of registered voters announced by the NEC was unrealistic and unimaginable.
    • The Elections Coordinating Committee (ECC) is urging all registered political parties to submit detailed statements of their assets and liabilities in the electoral process.
    • The -  Executive Director of the Peace Building Office (PBO) says his institution has a crucial role to play in ensuring peaceful, free, fair and transparent elections on October 10th.
    • The Ministry of Agriculture says it remains committed to creating an enabling environment to boost food production.
    • The Principal Investigator of PREVAIL 5, a joint Liberia-US clinical research program to assist in developing vaccines and therapeutics to tackle Ebola said sufficient information has been gathered to ensure that the vaccine is safe.

    Coffee Break is UNMIL Radio’s flagship news and current affairs program that highlights issues of concerns to UNMIL, government of Liberia, Civil Society and Grassroots communities. Issues such as peace and reconciliation, elections, women’s issues, current events, governance, rule of law, electricity and road construction among others are captured in the program which is aired Mondays-Fridays.

    Rev. Emmanuel Bowier, former information minister, an immanent Citizen and Historian served as guest on the show.
    Rev. Bowier said that the lack of Civic education in schools is the reason why some individuals have decided not to vote.

    James Makor-Executive Director/Save My Future Foundation-SAMFU (0886-531-661/0776-390-623) said the organization concluded a workshop on enhancing capacity of Peace Mediators to mitigate conflict in communities in Grand Gedeh
    Rev. Augustine Akoi / Head of the Better Future Foundation (BFF) said the BFF and partners petitioned the legislature to take steps to boost the educational sectors.
    Charles Cuffy President of the Press Union of Liberia talked of partnerships with international media bodies and other professional groups to boost the capacity of Liberian journalism
