The first UN-trained police officers graduated on March 26, 2005, replacing the corrupt, politicized forces that terrorized people during the conflict, and taking war-battered Liberia a step closer to restoring the rule of law. The 127 officers trained for 10 months in police tactics, social studies, Liberian law and human rights.
