This paper reports that President George Weah is under intense job pressure to remove government officials with tenure positions aimed at satisfying partisans, River Gee County lawmaker, Francis Dopoh told legislative reporters Wednesday in Monrovia. Representative Dopoh alleges President Weah’s directive requesting those occupying tenured positions to submit their letters of appointment and commissioning to him is a plot to replace them. “From, our information, President George Weah is under serious pressure to award tenured positions to his loyalists”. MCC workers deny media report, Sources: The INQUIRER and The New Dawn

Workers at the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) have strongly distanced itself from a media report that the newly nominated mayor of Monrovia, Jefferson Koijee has taken office ahead of Senate confirmation hearing. The MCC workers chairman, Eric Doe said on 2 February, they hosted a welcoming and appreciation program for the mayor-designate, but he says the event was being wrongly reported in the media that it was a turning over ceremony to the youth wing chairman of ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).

“The program was to express gratitude to President George Weah for the preferment on a young Liberian whose track records speak of his ability to promote and advance the pro-poor agenda of the CDC-led government, and not a formal take over ceremony as being perceived in some quarters,” Mr. Doe said. According to him, the MCC Workers Union is fully cognizant of the legislative procedures of the confirming of officials of government appointed by the president before formally beginning their official duties. Speaking to The New Dawn Tuesday, Evangelist Donatus Nayensuabo said Emmanuel Love was celebrating its 198th Anniversary of the redemption of the church by the Lord Jesus Christ. He says he wants people to know that if the divine mission of preaching repentance, salvation and the second coming of Jesus Christ is not fulfilled, God will destroy and turn the land over to foreigners. Nayensuabo warns that the failure of President Weah to unite the people and take them to Jesus Christ will not only destroy his leadership as president, but will cause Liberians to suffer from the wrath of God.
