Part II

On Friday 15 December 2017 Youth Representatives of Political Parties in the country signed a declaration reaffirming their commitment to peace at the Monrovia City Hall, Montserrado County. The Liberian Youth Peace Declaration is geared towards the maintenance of good political, social, economic, and democratic frameworks of Liberia; supporting the Farmington River Declaration.
Speaking at the program, UNMIL Deputy SRSG for Political and Rule of Law Waldemar Vrey congratulated and commended the youth leaders for their participation in a landmark program.
Mr. Vrey said today’s event is a result of several discussions held by youth leaders, who took the initiative and responsibility to group themselves with an aim of creating an electoral environment. Mr. Vrey stressed that UNMIL is looking forward to see a peaceful conclusion of the elections.
The program was attended by Representatives of the African Union, the Inter-Religious Council, and members of UNMIL, Manu River Union and the Federation of Liberian Youth.
