Refugees Return Home

Text

The civil war led to a massive displacement of Liberians. Nearly half of Liberia's three million people fled into exile. The UN Refugee Agency registered about 350,000 Liberian refugees in the various countries of asylum. Another 464,000 became internally displaced. The signing of the peace accords saw many Liberians return home for the first time in years. Read more in this issue of UN FOCUS.
