    Today’s edition of the program carried stories from Grand Kru, Lofa, Grand Bassa, Maryland and River Cess Counties. Most of these stories were sent in by nationwide reporters. They are about local developments, rule of law and the October 2017 elections.
    Below is gist of stories we carried:

    • Police in Grand Kru County are investigating what they call the unauthorized burial of a lady believed to be her early 30’s.
    • The Press Union of Liberia in partnership with Internews concludes debates for Representative Candidates in Lofa County.
    • Prices go sky high in Monweh District in River Cess County as the road gets deplorable.
  • Coffee Break - Tuesday, September 26 2017

    Coffee Break is UNMIL Radio’s flagship news and current affairs program that highlights issues of concerns to UNMIL, government of Liberia, Civil Society and Grassroots communities. Issues such as peace and reconciliation, elections, women’s issues, current events, governance, rule of law, electricity and road construction among others are captured in the program which is aired Mondays-Fridays.
    Coffee Break today featured live interviews with the following persons and issues:

    • Atty. Bartholomew Colley – Acting Chairperson / Independent National Commission of Human Right INCHR engages political parties and key stakeholders of the electoral process;
    • Atty. Ambrose Nmah - Director of Communications / Liberia Judiciary speaks of the investigation of a judicial staff for misconduct;
    • James Kolleh  -   Speaker / Mano River Youth Parliament  embarks on a nationwide campaign to avoid invalid ballots as well as promote non-violence elections;
    • Horatio Willie - Communications Consultant /Ministry of Gender , Children and Social protection talks about World Bank appraisal of the social safety net project;
    • Dorothy Toomann – Executive Director / Development Education Network-Liberia DEN-L engages vulnerable youth in peacebuilding effects leading to the elections;
    • Lawrence Myers – Regional Coordinator / National Youth Movement for Transparent Elections -NAYMOTE holds peace dialogue and civic voters’ education with youths in the region;

    Campaigns for the 2017 elections are taking place across the country. Liberia - 4 million people, 15 counties, 22 Presidential Candidates, but one seat. Election Day is October 10, 2017.

    Meanwhile the CDD will be conducting its second round of debate with candidates for the 2017 Elections UNMIL Radio hopes to bring you this debate live.
    We are still carrying out the Support Saloane Recovery Campaign we’ll be talking more about that later on in the program.
