Capacity Building for Law Enforcement Officers in Sinoe

As Liberia gradually takes charge of its own security as UNMIL draws down, members of Chinese Formed Police Unit (FPU) in Sinoe County are engaging law enforcement officers in the region and building their capacities.

From 20 to 30 May, the Chinese FPU brought together members of the various security apparatus and trained them in Law Enforcement Capacity Building and Computer Operations. Some 27 officers from various law enforcement agencies including Liberia national Police, Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization, the Drug Enforcement Agency, attended the training.

Sinoe County Attorney John A.A. Gabriel appreciated the Chinese peacekeepers’ contribution in building the capacity of the security agencies in the county. He said the workshop will promote mutual understanding and trust between CFPU and the local authorities.

At the close of the workshop, the Chinese peacekeepers made a donation comprising sporting and security equipment. At the donation ceremony, the Head of Field Office, Aminu Shittu, urged the Sinoe County Police to learn more from UNPOL and CFPU.
