Indian FPU-1 Reach Out To The Community

The Indian FPU-1 organized a community outreach programme on 29 January at Black-D Community in Paynesville to provide free medical assistance to the local residents. It was yet another effort by the contingent to reach out to the public in nearby communities.

This was the third medical outreach by the contingent to bring free healthcare to the residents of neighboring communities. Dr. Vijaylakshmi Chauhan, Contingent Medical Officer, led the health check.  Over 260 people benefitted from the Community Health Awareness programme, free distribution of medicines and general Out Patient Department Services.

Besides providing free health care to the residents of Black-D Community, the Contingent Commander of Indian FPU-1, UNPOL Community Policing Advisory Team and LNP Community Policing Officer from Congo Town Police station interacted with the local residents. They spoke to the residents about the Stop Mob Violence campaign and the importance of the rule of law, child abuse and the importance of education.

The community was urged to encourage their children to go to school.  The young girls in the community who had dropped out of school were advised to resume their studies. Sports items were also distributed to the students of Victoria Christian Mission Academy. The residents of the Black-D Community, Paynesville expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Indian FPU-1 for conducting the outreach programme.
