A Star is Born 2012/13 Launch at the SKD Gymnasium, SKD Sports Complex

The nationwide annual “A Star is Born under 20 Talent Hunt” jointly organized by UNMIL and the government of Liberia will be launched tomorrow Friday 14, September, 2012 by the Minister of Information Culture and Tourism, Hon. Lewis Brown at the SKD gymnasium, SKD Sports complex at 2:00 PM.

 

Also present at the official launching will be the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (DSRSG) for Rule of Law, Mr. Louise Aucoin who will also be making a statement; UNICEF’s Country Representative Ms. Isabel Crowley, UNMIL Chief of Public Information Ms. Isabelle Abric, the Director General of the Liberia Broadcasting Systems (LBS) Mr. Ambrose Nmah and other partner representatives will be in attendance.

This year’s launch marks the Sixth edition of the “Star is Born” talent hunt which has aimed, since its inception, to use the power of music and comedy in promoting peace and reconciliation.

“A Star is Born” has historically discovered many talented young people who have championed a new direction for the music industry in Liberia.

The event will feature the launching of the first music album compilation by the 2010 “A Star is Born” winner, Princess Gbor.

Prominent Liberian music entertainers and Liberia’s foremost comedian, Georgio Boutini will be performing at the free launching program.
