Monrovia - On 6 April 2017, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (DSRSG) Waldemar Vrey presented the prize to the March 2017 winner of the Youth Peace Dialogue Writing Competition at the Muslim Congress High School.

This initiative is organized by Messengers of Peace-Liberia Incorporated, in collaboration with the Daily Observer newspaper. The initiative is running from January to December 2017 and encourages young people aged from 8 to 29 years old to write on the topic of ‘Sustainable Peace and Security in Liberia’.

Cash prize of 10,000 Liberian Dollars (equivalent to approximately 100 US$) is awarded on a monthly basis to the writer of the best article, which is published in the Daily Observer newspaper.

DSRSG Vrey congratulated the organizers for the good initiative and seized the opportunity to invite the students attending the ceremony to make their voices heard and proposed a live broadcast on the UNMIL Radio on this writing competition.
