24 January 2018, Monrovia – A two-day workshop on gender responsive conflict analysis focusing on women, peace and security (WPS) was conducted by a joint mission led by the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) , the Department of Field Support (DFS) gender unit and UN Women in collaboration with United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) gender unit.

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNMIL, Mr. Farid Zarif, reinforced the importance of the initiative while delivering a motivational message calling the women to action. “Turn yourself into a local motive of change, it is good to talk to one another and strengthen our own capacity, however we need to breakout and capture areas that were beyond our reach, we have to change the mindset of male and turn them into spokespersons on behalf of the female,” said SRSG Zarif.

The workshop involved panels of discussions with the objective to develop context- specific tools and guidance on joint gender- responsive conflict analysis bringing together key stakeholders including women’s Civil Society organization.
