    ·        Liberia will on tomorrow join the rest of the world to commemorate World malaria day under the global theme; End malaria for Good, with the slogan, pregnant women go to the clinic for your malaria medicine.

    • The world's first malaria vaccine is to be trialled on children in three African countries: Ghana, Kenya and Malawi.

    ·        The Regional Director of the World Food Program (WFP) for Central and West Africa has urged Liberians to continue to work for the consolidation of peace.·        Deputy Agriculture Minister for Technical Services said with support from international partners Liberia is making progress in the agriculture sector.

    ·        The Independent Commission on Human Rights (INCHR) has concluded a two day stakeholder’s town hall meeting with some residents of the Duport Road Community and officials from the Paynesville City Corporation for the maintenance of the Duport Road Memorial Site.

    ·        The Senior Political Affairs Officer at UNMIL Randall Harbour thanked the INCHR for the initiative and urged families of victims to be strong in overcoming their grief.

    ·        World Bank Chief Economist for Africa says Africa’s economic growth recovery has been weak due to wasteful spending in many countries on the Continent.

    The Nursing School of the Bomi Community College has held its capping and acceptance ceremonies at the weekend admitting some thirty seven students in health education program

    Coffee Break is UNMIL Radio’s flagship news and current affairs program that highlights issues of concerns to UNMIL, government of Liberia, Civil Society and Grassroots communities. Issues such as peace and reconciliation, elections, women’s issues, current events, governance, rule of law, electricity and road construction among others are captured in the program which is aired Mondays-Fridays.

    Coffee Break today featured live interviews with the following persons and issues:

    -         Dr. Zobong Norman – President / Bomi County Community College speaks about the Health Science Department capping and badging of 37 students at the weekend.

    -   Oliver Pratt- Program Manager-National Malaria Control Program / Ministry of Health talks about the trend of malaria as the world celebrates world malaria day tomorrow.

    -         Sahr N’tow - Minister /Ministry of Youth and Sports and partners host a National Youth Peace Conference.

    • The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) has donated an assortment of equipment to the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA).
    • The Director General of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency commended the UN and the US government for the assistance; stressing that it is a major boost to their operations.
    • The Head of Liberia Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Authority have been commenting on the Recent Delocalized conference of ECOWAS Parliament which was held in Monrovia.
    • The Gender Coordinator of Lofa County, Madam Esther Konyon, wants perpetrators of rape and other forms of Sexual-Gender Based Violence arrested and prosecuted in keeping with the laws.
