    This week’s edition of Consumer Affairs featured a medical consultant, Joseph Colman, who discussed the danger of combining medical drug, paracetamol, with alcohol. 
    This came as medical reports abounds that patients are being diagnosed with liver and kidney failures as the result the use this substance in the hope that it will remove their drunken state.

    • The European Union head of Mission in Liberia has hailed President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for abiding by her constitutional term limit and her role in the ongoing historic transfer of power.
    • A group of women under the banner, the Union of Islamic Citizens of Liberia, has lauded Liberians for their participation in the just ended-Presidential Run-off election.
    • The Liberia National Police says it is concerned about the reappearance of motorcyclists on some restricted routes in and around Monrovia.
    • A one day Regional Dialogue Conference to promote peace and strengthen existing relationship among citizens of Bomi, Grand Cape Mount and Gbarpolu Counties has been held in Sinje Town, Grand Cape Mount County.
    • The United States says it is deeply committed to the longstanding relationship with Liberia and its people and will continue to support the success of the historic democratic transition and the peace and prosperity of Liberia.
    • The International Labour Organization has said 40.3 million people were victims of forced Labour and modern slavery in 2017.
    • The Executive Director of a Community based organization for Women and Children Mrs. Mmonbeydo Harrell says her group has launched an awareness campaign and community training aimed at creating awareness on access to Justice and SGBV in Monrovia.

    Josiah Nimely/ Field Coordinator Africa Humanitarian Action (AHA) . He disclosed that repatriation of Ivorian Refugees at the Little Wlebo Refugee Camp has officially ended. 
    Rally Fallah/ Head of the Mandela –Washington Fellows  Liberia Chapter . The organization stressed the importance of sustained youth engagements in the democratic process.
    John Yormie / Head of the Liberia Research and Development Network. The group is observing its anniversary with an appreciation of the contributions of teachers to education in Liberia.
    Steve Lavala / Executive Director Youth Exploration Solution (YES) . YES  said the group is rolling  out a campaign called “Manage Expectations” in the aftermath of the elections.
    Denzel Saryee / a young and enterprising musician . He is embarking on a campaign to use  his talent to promote a culture of peace.

    According to the girls, New Year refers to new things, new hopes and new visions in a person’s life.
    Through their different views, it is cleared that most girls and young women in Liberia are unable to reach or achieve their goals and full potential in a year time due to the many challenges they faced in life.
    However, most of the girls and young women are hoping that the year 2018 will be a year of change for them with education becoming their first priority.
