NEPAL Peacekeepers Heal the Sick

In May, just a few days after UNMIL NEPAL-3 Formed Police Unit (FPU) carried out free medical outreach for the blind in Tubmanburg, the contingent again carried out another exercise in Monogbokai, Klay District in Bomi County but in conjunction with the 30th Battalion of UNMIL Nigerian Contingent (NIBATT 30).

The exercise benefited over two hundred residents, mainly women, children and the elderly. During the exercise, NIBATT 30 Commanding Officer Colonel T.C Aroso informed the community that the offer comes in response to reports of peculiar health problems faced by residents in the area. Bomi County Superintendent Samuel Browne praised the joint medical team for the gesture stressing that health is wealth. According to him, good health is the bare rock for a nation’s development, and as such, the people of the community and all citizens of the county would tap on opportunities provided them to contribute to development in Liberia. Patients who spoke said they suffered waterborne diseases, malaria, and respiratory, skin, eye and ear infections.
