Topic: “The impact of career development and determination on the lives of boys and girls”.
Name of guests/resource persons: Amos Swaray, Felecia Morris, Norwu Harris, Mary-Love Lardner and Osborn Kroghi.
DISCUSSION: The guests focused their discussion on how career development can help to influence once education.
According to Osborn, Career refers to a life-time process in which a person involves his or her self in to; while Determination refers to the ability to keep pushing forward towards a goal.
Amos Swaray said at age fifteen, it is very important for a boy to get to know what he wants to be anxious or passionate about in society; adding that mentors and counsellors among others are needed in the life’s journey progression of any boy.
For her part; Felecia Morris stated that at age twelve, a girl should know the right from the wrong in choosing a career.
Norwu Harris indicated that girls are potential agents of change in society. She said in being agents of positive change, girls need career guidance in order to help increase their abilities to make strategic decisions.
Mary-Love Lardner however urged young people to be determined and focus more on developing skills that will add value to their career in order to form part of development in society. -
