The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Coordinator of United Nations Operations in Liberia, Farid Zarif lauded the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for its contribution to peacekeeping worldwide on 4 June, at a ceremony in Monrovia marking the International Day of Pakistani Peacekeepers.
30 May 2016 - (Monrovia, 27 May 2016) – At a commemoration of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers held today at UNMIL headquarters in Monrovia, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Coordinator of UN Operations in Liberia, Farid Zarif, and the Coordinator of the Cabinet, Minister of Defence Brownie J. Samukai, laid wreaths in honour of the 238 uniformed and civilian peacekeepers who lost their lives while serving on the Mission since 2003.

27 Apr 2016 - Monrovia - The United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) today handed over equipment required for explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) to the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL). On 30 April, the AFL assumes full responsibility for EOD when UNMIL Bangladeshi Engineers that have been responsible for the past two years cease operations as they prepare for repatriation in May.
17 Mar 2016 - (Monrovia/New York) Briefing the United Nations Security Council today, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Coordinator of UN Operations in Liberia, Farid Zarif, said both the Government of Liberia and the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) were confident that the priority targets in the country’s security transition plan will be met by 30 June, the deadline for the country to take full responsibility for its own security.
