    • President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said land and natural resources are key aspects to economic growth, stability and development to Liberia.
    • Meanwhile, UNMIL Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary General has described land tenures and concession issues as one of the drivers of conflict in Liberia.
    • The Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary –General for the rule of law has emphasized the critical role of security sector reform to the consolidation of peace in Liberia.
    • Muslims in Liberia have joined their colleagues in the observance, of “Eid al-Fitr” which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.  
    • The Ministry of Gender, Children and social Protection in collaboration with UNAIDS has ended a two day assessment workshop on HIV & Social Protection.
    • The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection says concerted efforts must be applied in eliminating female genital mutilation in Liberia.
    • Liberian women have launched a campaign to increase their participation in the electoral process. The initiative was launched under the banner: “Campaign Expo 2017.”

    Coffee Break is UNMIL Radio’s flagship news and current affairs program that highlights issues of concerns to UNMIL, government of Liberia, Civil Society and Grassroots communities. Issues such as peace and reconciliation, elections, women’s issues, current events, governance, rule of law, electricity and road construction among others are captured in the program which is aired Mondays-Fridays.
